There’s more than one way to save a life…

Riley James has everything to live for, a business to grow, goals to achieve. After everything she’s overcome, there’s no way she’s going to let anyone get in the way of her hopes and dreams. Not even a handsome businessman who makes her a crazy offer she would be even crazier to refuse.

Jordan West has everything a man could want. And yet it all feels so meaningless. But when tragedy strikes and he’s entrusted with the care of a two-year-old toddler, life doesn’t seem so meaningless anymore. Jordan West suddenly has everything to live for. Problem is…how does he hold on to that feeling?

I picked this up almost a year ago when it was on offer for 99p after enjoying other books by the author and really enjoying them.

This starts with Riley as a young teen as she deals with the death of her father. Fast forward a handful of years and she's working several jobs to try and keep her and her mum afloat financially. After coming to the rescue of a man being mugged, he tells her he'll pay her for saving him and she follows him back to his penthouse apartment, pepper spray at the ready. It's only a few days later when he tracks her down at her other job that things take an unexpected twist when he asks her to work for him. After initially turning him down she finds herself in need of the money and before long she finds herself very much a part of his world and falling in love with him and his god-daughter, Maisie.

I do enjoy this author's books. She has a way of making you really grow to like her characters. Jordan is initially this grumpy serious man but by the end he's mellowed into this quite fun guy who I started to really like by half way through. Riley had a troubled past after her dad died but she's pulled through it all and made herself a better person for it. She's loyal and caring and I just liked her from the start.

I have found a weakness about myself for toddlers in books. I tend to love reading what they get up to and Maisie was a fun one.

I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future.
