Description:

Witch Hunter.

Rage Demon.

Queen of New Chicago.

I’ve gone by many names over the years. After a decade of hiding who and what I am—I’ve finally stepped into the light to pave the way for a better future.

I expected to be challenged for the right to rule, but not like this. Lorcan’s arrival into our world changes everything.

To lead means to sacrifice. To serve.

But happens when the price is too great? When it is something you cannot give?

It’s either the beginning of a new age or the end of one. A single misstep is all it will take to decide which.

Review:

I had to see what was going to end up happening after the cliffhanger ending of book 3 with Piper's sister Bree coming face to face with her atman -  her mate - who isn't the nice guy Bree has painted him as.

So as mentioned above this picks up straight off from there with Bree issuing a challenge to her mate, Lorcan, so that he will leave both her and Piper alone for several weeks until the challenge comes into affect. We also have the issue of Piper being crowned as the Queen of New Chicago and trying to help both humans and supernaturals live together in harmony.

A lot seemed to be going on in this one. We see things from several peoples POV's and it got very interesting at times. The author has written this so that we can get quite a few secondary series' out of it. We could have a Nathalie/Lucifer story and we could get a Bree/Anders tale and I would happily read both.

I'm not going to go into too much detail but I did really enjoy the ending of this. It got a little dicey for a while towards the end but then Piper did her usual I-will-not-die/You-can't-break-me routine and pow! She evolves into something more. The bit with the babies was super cute, too. Even that could be brought up again in future books.

Looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
