Description:

Bad boy football star. Innocent girl next door. Two different worlds. One small town. A million reasons why they should have stayed away from one another.

My life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world.
Who I'd date, where I’d attend college, what I'd be when I grew up.
But there was a time in everyone's life when they'd face a fork in the road.
Should I go left, or should I go right?
It didn't matter as long as I didn't remain stagnant any longer.
Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world.
Reminding me that it was okay to find my own way.
I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly.
What I didn't expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.
The boy I’d known since kindergarten.
The boy who had somehow become my everything.

Review:

This was another Amazon suggestion for me based on my previous books and it had good ratings on Goodreads so I decided to give this a go.

This starts with Adelaide and her friends meeting in her basement for a chat before the start of school. It's the last year and they want to do the best they can at pretty much everything. Addy is co-captain of the cheer leading squad and has been going out with one of the players for the last three years so when she finds out he's been cheating on her, it rocks her world and makes her reevaluate her life and her goals for the future.

The first 25% of this was very low going for me, full of teenage relationship drama and sports stuff that went straight over my head since I'm not American and us Brits don't do the big inter-school football competitions or cheer leading. I was a bit more intrigued by the thing she had going on with Jett but even then it was still slow.

I don't know if it was the Southern-ness of this or the small town setting that made me not like this but I struggled so badly to even want to pick this back up when I had the opportunity to read. Some of the characters put me off, too. Addy's mum was such a cow at times and whenever she appeared on page, I just wanted to smack her so hard. She's so judgemental!

This didn't work for me.
