Wrong number. Right guy?

Once upon a time, Maggie Cooper lived for adventure. Jumping out of planes was child’s play. Now she can’t even work up the nerve to ask out her coworker. For a bit of self-therapy, she begins to text her recently deceased mother’s phone—the only problem is that the number has been reassigned and for weeks she’s been unknowingly texting a stranger her deepest thoughts and feelings. There have also been some not-so-deep texts, like the ones about her appreciation for her coworker’s butt.

When Chase Beckett, the unsuspecting stranger who has more in common with Maggie than he’d like to admit, texts back, Maggie is beyond mortified. But message after message and night after night, Maggie realizes that Chase’s wit, charm, and advice are exactly what the doctor ordered. Is it enough, though, to get her back up in the sky? And what about her heart? Can she risk taking a leap of faith for the man on the other end of her accidental texts?

I got this from the KU Library.

This starts with Maggie texting her mums phone to let out her feelings about her current situation of getting ready to jump out of a plane to spread her mums ashes. She's using the texts as a coping mechanism for her grief. Only the number has been reassigned and when this person replies to her text out of the blue Maggie isn't sure how to feel. At first she's embarrassed but when the person on the other end, Chase, tells her he recently lost his mum, too, a friendship blossoms between them.

I can't say I really enjoyed this one. The first 25% was slow going as we got to know Maggie and her family and their business and her best friend etc. It was only when Chase actually showed up in her life that I started to enjoy this but it still never really got going for me.

I did like their friendship and how it progressed. Some of the crazy adrenaline activities they did were cool and sounded fun. I just wish there had been a little more romance to this. You could see something was beginning to brew between them but it was only really nearly the end that they even started to talk about feelings growing and then he was off to London for 6 months where only texts and implied visits were mentioned in them.

This didn't really work for me, I read books for the romance and this was lacking quite a lot until that end bit.
